Section Facts

bulletThe Northeast New York Section of AIChE was established in the 1952-1953 program year through the efforts of chemical engineers working at General Electric, KAPL and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. From its beginning, the Section has been active in national AIChE programs and had members on national committees for career guidance, public relations, air and water pollution, research, equipment testing and government interaction.
bulletThe local Northeastern New York section spans from Plattsburgh to just south of Albany and from the Massachusetts border to Johnstown, NY. There are approximately 200 members in the local section.

Recent Section Awards

bulletMs. Cory Trembath, nominated by our section won the 1995 Outstanding Student in Environmental Sciences sponsored by American Institute of Chemical Engineers at the AIChE Summer Meeting in Boston, MA. Cory is the top student of her class of six hundred. She has been recognized for her contribution to numerous projects, which have improved the living environment of her school, Shenendehowa High.
bulletDaniel Nelson, the Section's nomination for Outstanding Teacher in Environmental Sciences, a companion award, was selected as the national winner at the 1994 AIChE National Meeting in San Francisco.
